Texas Senior Medicare Patrol Shines Light on Scam Prevention

Medicare Open Enrollment scams:

– “Medicare” or other health plan calls for a new health card for $299

– Calls about a refund

– Calls to sign you up for a plan that doesn’t even exist

– Calls offering discounts on a new plan

– An agent pressures you to enroll in their plan

– An agent offers you gifts to enroll

– A request for your Medicare, Social Security number, and/or bank information

Open Enrollment fraud:

– Medicare will never call/visit/text. Information will only be sent via postal mail

– Don’t give out your Medicare number unless to your provider

– Don’t be pressured into making any quick decision about your health care plan

– No health care plan allows cold calls
